Notes
Day 1
Fly in to Colombo
Casa Colombo: http://www.casacolombo.com/
(This hotel is pricey but wonderful. Make sure you have dinner there as the food was excellent and have a drink in their bar area outside. A very special and quirky place to stay. Make the most of it!)
Day 2
Colombo - Goyambokka
Goyambokka Guest House: http://goyambokkaguesthouse.com/index.php
(Cheap and simple, with excellent shrimp dishes served every night. Very close to a gorgeous, quiet beach, with tons of exploring opportunities.)
Train Colombo Fort- Matara
DEP: 8:35
ARR: 11:50
Matara- Goyambokka: Taxi (30 mins)

Day 3
Goyambokka
Goyambokka Guest House
Hire a moped and beach hop on deserted beaches or visit the temples.
Day 4
Goyambokka - Mirissa
On the Rock Hotel
Fairly new budget hotel with excellent reviews and great for families.
Day 5
Mirissa
On the Rock Hotel
Book yourself on a boat tour to see the whales!
Day 6
Mirissa - Thalpe
Frangipani Tree: http://www.thefrangipanitree.com/thefrangipanitree/index
(Gorgeous setting, real privacy and uber romantic. Ask for the room with the large outdoor bathroom on the end. You can also have breakfast, lunch and dinner on your patio area as well. This place is STUNNING!)
Day 7
Thalpe
Frangipani Tree
Day 8
Thalpe
Frangipani Tree
Day 9
Thalpe - Galle
Frangipani Motel
http://www.frangipanigallefort.com/
(Cheap and cheerful with nice garden and comfy bed. Not to be confused with The Frangipani Tree! They can also arrange for a taxi to take you back up to Colombo if you miss the train or just can’t be bothered with the train! Think taxi was the equivalent of 30 pounds and takes half the time than on the train.)
This is only a 25 minute journey so if you leave Thalpe early enough, you can have the whole day to wander around the gorgeous Galle fort and pop in to the numerous cafes/shops that are all around.
Day 10
Galle - Colombo
Hotel Sunshine:

http://www.hotelsunshine.lk/

(Fairly simple and cheap, but fine for one night. Get them to arrange a taxi for you to the airport for the next day.)
Galle Face Hotel: (http://www.gallefacehotel.com/)
Ultimate colonial and serious special hotel and a perfect place to finish your holiday. You might not be able to afford to stay here but make sure you visit for sunset and have a gin and tonic or two.
